How to measure your ring size at home

Here are three simple methods for measuring your ring size without our free tool:

  • The string method
  • Using a printable ring sizer
  • Measuring an existing ring to determine a size that already fits you

These methods require our ring sizing tool and conversion chart. To print the chart for methods two or three, set the page scale to "100%" in your print settings and use standard 8.5 x 11 inch paper.

Method 1: Create your own ring sizer

What you'll need:

  • Printer and paper
  • String, yarn, dental floss, or a strip of paper
  • Pen or marker
  • Ruler

Steps:

  1. Cut a piece of string, yarn, dental floss, or paper at least three inches long.
  2. Wrap one end of the string around the base of the finger you wish to measure.
  3. With a pen or marker, mark where the end of the string overlaps with the rest.
  4. Lay the string flat and use a ruler to measure the length between the end and your mark in millimeters.
  5. Use the Ring Size Conversion Chart to match the length in millimeters to the corresponding ring size.

Method 2: Print a ring size template

What you'll need:

  • Printer and paper
  • Scissors

Steps:

  1. Print the ring sizer and conversion chart. Make sure your printer settings are set to β€œ100%” page scaling and use standard 8.5 x 11-inch paper.
  2. Cut out the paper ring sizer and the slot as indicated.
  3. Wrap the paper ring sizer around the base of the finger you wish to measure, ensuring the numbers are visible, then insert the pointed end through the slot you cut out.
  4. Note the number that aligns with the slot; that's your ring size! Remember, quarter sizes are also available if your sizer indicates you are in between full and half sizes.
